What is what does it mean when judge says sustained?

When a judge says "sustained" in a courtroom, it means that the judge agrees with an objection raised by a lawyer. The question or evidence that the lawyer objected to is deemed inadmissible and cannot be presented to the jury (if there is one). In effect, the lawyer's objection was valid, and the judge is upholding it.
